Today was our last day in Ireland ! We decided that we would take a 30 minute drive south of dublin to visit Powerscourt House And Gardens, as the sun was shining even though it was cold. The house is enormous and the gardens spectacular. John saw more of the gardens than I did - way too much walking for me to see it all. While there the weather turned to rainy with a very icy wind - time for a hot chocolate !! Within the house is Tara's Palace, which is a dolls house, the detail is really incredible everything is in proportion. There are even real Waterford crystal miniature glasses in the dining room - the beds all have miniature quilts on them. Unfortunately, because it is behind glass, there ware not photos.
We were a little disappointed that you cannot tour the actual house, other than the public areas which are now shops!
After spending a couple of hours, it was time to head for Dublin Port to await the ferry for our trip to Holyhead. The crossing of the Irish sea was a little rougher than we had previously felt, but nothing too bad. We arrived on Holyhead about 7.30pm and drove about 30 minutes to Caernarfon.
