Tromso 9th July, 2017

We arrived in Tromso at 11.00am. to a beautiful sunny day with the temperature expected to reach around 16degrees.

This is the waterside on the ship, and the clear part actually goes out over the side of the ship !!!! not something I think I would enjoy, however there are lots that do !!!

Tromso is the gateway to the Arctic and starting point for the expeditions to the North Pole. So, after a late breakfast in the buffet, we caught the shuttle bus into the town. We found an Art Gallery which contained “Sami” Art. At the Art Gallery, larger bags were not allowed to be taken in, and were required to be put in a locker.
When it came time to leave, we had great difficulty opening the locker !! Eventually, the attendant arrived with a spare set of keys to help us out.

We spent a short time in the Information Centre, to get a map of the town, and headed to the close by pub to sample the local Mac beer and take advantage of their free wifi for a while :)
The Tromso Harbour is very pretty and contained many local fishing boats, as well as 2 English Racing Yachts as well as a Dutch Yacht.  There was a lovely town square, with lots of beautiful flowers.  We wandered through the small market before heading back to the ship.

We then wandered around the harbour which had 2 English Racing Yachts as well a Dutch Yacht and many local fishing boats. The checked the small local market and then headed back to the ship. We departed Tromso, at 8.00pm. The scenery after leaving Tromso became quite spectacular.
