24th September, 2022

Today was our last day in London, before making our way to Heathrow to fly home.
So, nothing too strenuous!!! A visit to Selfridges Department Store, where we enjoyed morning tea.

Then a visit to the Pandora Shop (or 2) before heading back to the apartment to collect our luggage.  We had an uber booked for the trip to Paddington, which cancelled, so ended up with car booked by the apartments.  We then caught the Heathrow Express from Paddington Station to Heathrow, where check in was a nightmare !!!

23rd September, 2022

We spend this morning packing as much as  possible in readiness for our return home, before catching the No 15 bus towards Charing Cross to catch another bus over the Thames to the Imperial War Museum

We spent hours in the Museum, such an incredible place.  The exhibitions are from WW1 to the present day.

We left the Imperial War Museum and headed down the river to another of the famous pubs.  This time the Grapes, in Limehouse, over looking the Thames River, which Sir Ian McKellen, (Gandalf, in the Lord Rings) is the co owner.

We continued our visits to famous London Pubs again today, after a very easy morning.  This Pub is the Prospect of Whitby and is on the Northern bank of the Thames River at Wapping. It was built in 1520 and is thought to be the site of oldest riverside tavern in London.  Charles Dickens and JMW Turner are said to have been customers

We then decided to catch a cab to Canary Wharf

and travel back to Westminister by
 boat

We called into a pub near Westminster, for a drink and had a lovely conversation with a lovely local couple, before heading to Westminster Station

to catch the train to Victoria Station.

We had dinner at a pub opposite the Victoria Palace Theatre, before attending the evening performance of Hamilton

Ye Old Cheshire Cheese is one the few remaining ChopHouses from the 17th Century and a pub has stood here since 1538.  It was rebuilt in about
1667 after the Great Fire of London. This is John sitting in the favourite seat of Dr Samuel Johnson

Next stop was The Old Bell on Fleet Street.  It was originally built in 1678 by Sir Christopher Wren, to accomodate Stone Masons working on a nearby project.
