Sunday 23rd September, 2018

After a good nights sleep, we had a lovely breakfast with the other guests and lots of laughs and interesting discussions.
Our original plan was to go to Lavenham, for John to sit and draw, however it was raining, and the Little Hall, that we wanted to visit did not open until 1pm. We had been to Lavenham before, it is such a quaint little town, where most of the houses are crooked.

So we continued to Long Melford, where Michael (our host) was born.  There is a huge church there and according to Michael it is only 1/2 inch short of being a Cathedral !!! It was so big we were unable to get far enough way to get it all in a photo.

From here we drove to the village of Cavendish, to have a look around.

We were going to look at Cavendish Castle, however it is a complete ruin and quite a walk from the parking, so we decided against it in the rain.

So, we then returned to Lavenham, for a delicious morning/lunch in a quaint little Tea Room, decorated with lots of tea pots and cups and saucers:)

There was even a wreath on the door mad from teacups

By this the "Little Hall" was open.  It was built in the 14th Century around 1390 as a Hall House on the Main Square.

It was a family house and workplace and was enlarged in the 1550's.  By the 1700's is was home to 6 families.

The Little Hall now contains artworks and memorabilia from the Gayer-Anderson twins, who were soldiers and artists.

We headed back to Drinkstone Park before heading out again to a Chinese Restaurant in Stowmarket, which was about 15mins drive on the little country lanes.  The food was great and we managed to get there and back without getting lost :)
