Tuesday 25th September, 2018

After another lovely breakfast full of laugh and great conversation, it was time to say goodbye to our hosts Michael and Christine.
We were wishing that had more time here, as it is such a great B& B and Michael and Christine are wonderful hosts - nothing is too much trouble.  We said it after we stayed here last time, and we still believe that it is the best B & B we have stayed in, and we believe it is ranked No 1 on Trip Advisor, which is well deserved.

To the right is Michael's weather forecasting Station !!!!

So we drove through the lanes again to Sudbury to visit Gainsborough's House, which was very interesting.

It is the actual house that he lived in, and there are a few or his painting, but most are in the National Gallery.

So we started our drive to Elham !!! The trip should have taken about 2 1/2 hrs, but due to road work, road closures, accidents, poor signage and just plain traffic it took nearly 5 hrs.  We drove across the Dartford crossing bridge,

and along the Thames River, through some pretty ordinary towns.

We arrived at Bridge Cottage B&B quite late in the afternoon and were welcomed by Chris.  It is quite a nice place, but not anywhere near the standard of Drinkstone Park.

We went to dinner at the Abbots Fireside, which is an ancient Inn, from about the 13th century, which is now a grade 2 listed pub.
