Port Isaac & Lands End 5.11.2012

Our first stop today was at Tintagel to see the ruins of an old castle - we also found Camelot !!! (a hotel) A short drive away was Port Isaac. The TV Series Doc Martin, which we enjoy watching, is filmed in this beautiful coastal village. The streets are so very narrow and there are little lanes leading from one street to another. Just a beautiful place!! From Port Isaac we drove to Lands End (which took longer than we expected). It was unbelievably cold and windy, as is seen by the photo !!! As we were walking to the point John mentioned that he hoped someone else would be there to take a photo of us together. As it happened a lady, with, an Australian accent, asked if we wanted out photo taken. As we got to talking they mentioned they were from the Melbourne suburb of Cranbourne. John asked if they played golf, as a friend of ours was once the President of the Golf Club there - Bob Broadhurst. Their eyes lit up as they had known him. In actual fact, John & I actually knew one of the men 13 years ago, when we organized and ran the Elgas Transport Conferences. How amazing is it to be half way round the world, and run into someone that you had worked with !!! Back into the car and off to Lyndhurst, in the New Forest, a 5 hr drive. We arrived at the Stag Hotel, to a warm welcome from 2 Aussie barmen. We had booked a standard room (the previous night), but were very lucky to have our room upgraded to a suite. !!
