Welsh Highland Railway 3.11.2012

Wow - our first look at Caernarfon Castle. I had no idea it was so big! Anyway, today was our trip on the Welsh Highland Railway, which is a narrow gauge (24 inch) Steam Railway, and runs between Caernarfon and Porthmadog.
The trip was 2 1/2 hrs each way, and we travelled in 1st Class in the Pullman Car. This trip was absolutely jam packed with incredible scenery - snow capped mountains (apparently it started snowing 2 nights ago) waterfalls, picturesque valleys and the harbour at Porthmadog. Incredibly, when the train reaches Porthmadog,it actually goes down the main street before it reaches the station. After a 30 minute stop, it was time for the return journey. What a wonderful day.
