Hamburg to Kiel 7th May, 2016

We caught a taxi to Hamburg Hbf Railway Station - the right one this time !!!.  We went to the platform and a train was sitting there, but being 40 mins early we decided to wait before boarding.  There was then a voice that said “Is this the train to Kiel” in a strong Australian accent.  This was our introduction to Donna, who has since been nicknamed “McDuff”, and her friend Lena. During conversation we realised that we were all on the same Cruise,  We all hit it off straight away.
The train trip was about 1 hr 10 mins, and on arrival to Kiel we decided to take a taxi to the Port Terminal - good decision as it was quite a distance from the Station.
We arrived at the terminal at 11am (check in was advertised as 3 pm, but last time it opened 4 hrs early).  Unfortunately, the ship was just docking when we arrived, as it had been denied entry to
the port for some reason.  So there we sat, with lots of others, until boarding owned at 2pm.  Luckily, we had Priority Boarding and were amongst the first few people to board.
Initially, there was a problem with our Cruise Cards - they hadn't included our “Aurea Package” on our cards - which meant that the Spa Area and Drinks weren't included !!! After a few anxious moments it was all sorted - thank heavens I had all the paperwork with me !!
Our cabin is at the front of the ship on Deck 14 and is very comfortable

Our home, away from home, for the next 2 weeks :).
The ship sailed approximately 1 3/4 hrs late, headed for Copenhagen.
