3rd October 2018 - Stockholm City

Today the six of us caught the bus and train into Stockholm City.  It was a long journey.
On arrival at Stockholm the escalators were the biggest and steepest we had scene.
The weather was beautiful and sunny, but coats were still required.

After looking around the city we went to the Vasa Museum.  The Vasa was s Swedish Warship built in 1628 that on its maiden voyage lasted only 20 minutes and went for a distance of about 1300 meters before a puff of wind capsized it, the gun portals filled with water and the ship sank, killing 30 people.

On the 20th August, 1959  all was ready to commence the initial lift, but it wasn't until Monday 24th April, 1961 that it was finally lifted from the water after 333 years.

We then went to a restaurant for lunch in the back streets of Stockholm.
We continued our tour around Stockholm with a visit to the outside of the Palace

It was an amazing day in Stockholm, and we enjoyed it all, even it I was very sore and tired.
We then returned to the train station for the journey back to Skanssundet, which took longer that normal due to a fatal accident on the train line.
