Thursday 23rd May, 2024 - Narrow Boat

We had made arrangements to meet friends on the Ashby Canal around lunchtime.  We didn't get as far as we thought, so we met them at Bridge 5 at the Corner House Hotel.

We had a lovey couple of hours at the pub with Andy and Daph and there 3 year old grandson Charlie.  After lunch we all went back to the narrow boat and proceeded along the canal for 1/2hr, where Andy got off and went back to get their car and drove to meet us at Bridge 15, The Lime Kilns Hotel, where we said goodbye to them.   It was so lovely to them them, hopefully next time it might be in Australia

We stayed moored at the Lime Kilns overnight, and went to the pub for something light to eat.  We ended up having a few drinks with some locals, who live on narrowboats.  Both were real characters, one was an Electrical Engineer and the other  a Mechanical Engineer, both retired.
