Saturday 15th September, 2018

The four of us left bright and early on Saturday morning going through the last of Buckby Locks first up.

Next was the Braunston Tunnel, which is only 2042 yards (1.6klm) long, but is not straight !!!!!! We followed Eric and Sally into the tunnel, however, they were a fair bit quicker than us.  John was the lucky one to drive the boat in the dark, down the bendy tunnel !!! again the tunnel was nearly wide enough for two boats to pass and we met six !!
Sally and Eric were waiting for us at the bottom of the Braunston Locks, which is a flight of six locks, thankfully, not as heavy as the previous ones.  On the 4th lock on the way up, there was a Pub called the Admiral Nelson, which Eric said, has the best beer on the canal.  True to his words, after we moored at Braunston, just before 11am, he walked at least a mile back to the pub, and had 3 pints, while John, myself and Sally went Grocery shopping (up a very steep hill).

We waited for Jo, Chris and the kids to arrive from Tamworth to spend the afternoon with us. John walked up the Nibbits Lane to wait for them and arrived just as they did, only to find a man had come out of his house, and questioned Chris & Jo about whether they were going for a walk. Jo said Yes the were, he said it was residential parking only and they couldn't park!!! Quickly Jo responded saying that there were no signs, which meant it wasn't residential parking and we will park here - he backed off quite quickly !!!!
Shortly after Jo, Chris and the kids arrived, Eric and Sally came to say goodbye.

They had been great teachers and company to travel with and it was sad to see them leave.  They had been on their boat since early July and were heading back to  Rugby, where they keep the boat, and then on to home near Tamworth.

Jack was very excited about being on the boat, as most little boys would be :)

Emily was just happy to play with brightly coloured highlighters. We had lunch and spent a lovely afternoon talking and laughing and of course having the odd glass of wine or beer :)

We stayed moored here for the night, as the Jo, Chris and the kids are coming back tomorrow :)
