London -Thursday 6th September, 2018

We  caught a Taxi to St Botolph without Aldgate, as I had been doing some family history and had traced the family down them female line of the Jones Family, back to Mary Edwards (4th Great Grandmother) who married William Alvey, and at this stage I believe that they were both buried in this churchyard, which is now Postman's Park.  When we arrived at the church, we found it wasn't opened until 1pm, so we had about 1 1/12 hrs to wait.  John went in search of a coffee shop, but instead found a bar/pub/restaurant that was brand new and had only been open for 4 weeks.  It was owned by 4 people, 1 of whom was a young women from Perth.  It was really well decorated and set up and being that it is now mostly residential with a large hospital opposite the outlook for this pub is very positive.
It was quite an amazing/emotional feeling to be where my 4th Great Grandparents grew up, lived, died and are buried.  The church itself from the outside is very plain, but on the inside is very lovely.  It was slightly damaged in the 2nd world war, but the interesting thing is, that albeit, although our family is Catholic, back in those days we were Presbyterian.  As the church was opening, we were welcomed in, and asked if we were just tourists.  When we mentioned that our relatives were buried and christened here, the 2 gentlemen were very interested and helpful. This is the church that in the grounds of John Wesley first started to preach.

From here we caught a bus (any bus) towards town (after John realising that he had lost his Opal Card, and luckily the bus driver let him on) as we had to get to Afternoon Tea at Fortnam and Masons.  We got off the bus near Piccadilly and caught a cub the rest of the way.  Fortnam and Masons is amazing - a little like David Jones on steroids !!!

Afternoon Tea was once again amazing :)

After we finished Afternoon Tea, we caught an Uber to a luggage shop, near the Savoy Theastre to but a luggage strap, as one side of the zipper on my bag has broken - so much for buying good luggage !!! it has a 10 year warranty - I have already emailed Antler, and have been advised to contact them when we return home and if its a manufacturing fault it may be covered !!! Not happy !!
Another Uber over to the Globe Theatre.  We were quite early and decided to have a drink at the Swan Bar.  We got talking to 2 nice ladies, who were ex Pan Am air hostesses now living in London.

We saw Loves Labours Lost in the Sam Wanamaker Theatre. It was very cleverly done, with lots of laughs !!! At one point, they very cleverly included the song "Of all the Girls I've Loved before" We were nearly falling off the chairs with laughter.
Another Uber back to the apartment, and once again we fell into bed exhausted !!!
