Tuesday 30th August, 2022

We took our time this morning, then drove to the Royal  Albert Docks, which is Liverpool’s historic waterfront. Then Warehouses at  the dock were the first fire proof all brick warehouses in the world

We had lunch at the Mexican restaurant, then decided to do the Hop on Hop off Bus around the city. There many sight around the city.

Back to the docks for afternoon tea, then The Beatles, Magical Mystery Tour.

While at the bus stop, waiting to join the tour bus to arrive, there was a man wearing a Sydney Swans T Shirt.  Of course, conversation ensued!!!

They were from the Central Coast of NSW. Who would have thought !!!

The tour was really wonderful, and guide was very knowledgeable about early Beatles history, even before they were the Beatles.

Driving along Penny Lane, which is not just a street, but is also a shopping village, and some of the local business feature in the song eg the Barber shop, which is still there. Anyway there was was a man standing talking at an intersection, who waved to the bus. It was Colin Hanton

The guide was most excited for us, as he was one of the original Quarrymen, which was the first group formed by John Lennon in 1956.

We went past all the childhood homes

past the Cemetery, where Elenor Rigby is buried.  The guide on the bus had lead the fund raising to have Elenor Rigby’s grave restored.  The grave is located on St Peters Church.

Lennon and McCartney met on the 6th July, 1957 at the St Peters  Church Hall.  We visited Strawberry fields,

and learned lots of other interesting things about the Beatles and their early lives.

Back to the Royal Albert Docks, this time for dinner !!

Tapas - couldn’t resist stopping at Pier Head to have photos with the Bronze Statues of the Fab Four!!

Its been a big day !! Time for bed !!!
