Wednesday 14th September, 2022 - The Peak District, Matlock

Today, we took Lisa's advice and drove to Castleton, which is a village in the High Peak District, Derbyshire.  It's most commonly known now for it's mining of the gemstone known as "Blue John", which is found nowhere else in the world.

It's a pretty little village, with a great information centre, quite a few jewellery shops, and cafes.

It also has the remain of a Medieval Town Ditch from the 11th Century

We drove back over the Derbyshire Dales.  The scenery was amazing, although photos were hard to get, as the road was windy and quite narrow

We stopped for a drink at the Bridge Inn, Calver.

A pretty little riverside pub, with a great outdoor area.  One of their Sunday Specials is "Roasts for your Dog"

We continued on into Chesterfield, where we went into a Morrisons Supermarket for supplies, and continued back to the cottage for dinner.
