We left Liverpool and drove to Manchester. We inadvertently hadn’t booked accomodation anywhere. I was able to get a secret deal on booking.com at the Copthorne Hotel in Manchester. It was really great, lovey room, great food. We caught an Uber to the Whitworth Art Gallery, which John thought he wanted to visit !!
Turns out it wasn’t what he expected, so we caught a bus to the Manchester Art Museum - much better. There were some amazing still life paintings and some of L S Lowry ’s paintings, which we both like
After the museum, we stopped for a cup of coffee at a nearby coffee house, and decided that as it was already around 5pm, we would catch an Uber back to the Hotel. Not as easy as it seemed !!! Unbeknown to us,
There was a Cricket game at Old Trafford and also a Football game at the stadium. We tried for at least 45 mins to book an Uber with no success, and then as we walked past a Premier Inn, we asked where the nearest Taxi Rank was. The Manager of the Premier Inn, actually called a private taxi company for us, which took about half an hour to arrive, because they sent the taxi to the wrong location. We were so appreciative of his help. Finally, back at the hotel, we had a lovely dinner in the verandah overlooking the river.
